Event Ad

Description: A project in which the students were to design a color full-bleed advertisement for an event that would raise funds for an organization using only Microsoft Word and scanned images.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills):  First, I drew sketches of what I would like my flier to look like, and I considered the message and audience that I wanted to reach. After making sketches, I proceeded to scan all of the images I wanted to use in my flier.  To do this, I visited room 107 in the Spori and scanned using the computer that was connected to one of the two scanners available.  Then I opened word and, using my favorite sketch, designed my project.  I then met with peers to get input on my draft.  During my critique session I learned very valuable information and got good tips for improvement.  Overall, it was a productive critique.  Finally, I made the final changes to my project and printed it for submission.

Message:  The message I was trying to convey is that the Astronomical Society is trying to raise money for the improvement of their program and all campus science labs and equipment by hosting a fun and intriguing event that is out of this world.

Audience:  All of the BYUI student body, especially students interested in astronomy.

Color scheme and color names: Tetradic; Violet, Indigo, Gold, Lime

Top Thing Learned:  I learned how to scan pictures and other printed images correctly.
